The United States National Health Insurance Act establishes an American-styled national insurance program.
The bill would create a publicly financed, privately delivered health care program that uses the already existing Medicare program by expanding and improving it to all U.S. residents, and all residents living in U.S. territories. The goal of the legislation is to ensure that all Americans, guaranteed by law, will have access to the highest quality and cost effective health care services regardless of ones employment, income, or health care status.

john conyers is brilliant!! i think he is the only man or woman in congress with any balls!! besides the obvious fact that there are millions of men, women and children without health insurance, the fact that these people still come into the healthcare system but at a later stage, sicker and needing far more inteventions than if they had been able to see a doc or NP early on!!!
on a personal side, i have a 21 year old son who has been working at a large retail chain for well over a year, but they won't give him full time status..........and we all know why......because they will have to provide health insurance. i worry constantly that he doesn't slip on ice and break a bone, or come down with a really nasty virus/pnuemonia.

I have been hesitant to support a national health plan, but maybe it is time for us to reconsider it. I generally do not want the government involved in stuff like this; but when I hear about all the goofy stuff our tax dollars go to, I think "Health care would be a much better expenditure'.
