I am just deleting my question because people viewed it but no one responded so I will just go to a different forum and ask for advice.

I saw it just before it was deleted.
Both professions have good and bad. I am also interested in teaching and envy the lack of shiftwork. I have a science degree and am thinking of doing teacher training now. One of my friends I went to school with finished her teacher training a couple of years back and is very happy - she is 40
As far as the bedpans go - once you have done your training, you can choose an area of work you prefer. I like accident and emergency as the patients are treated and then go.
"Meet them and street them" so to speak. I don't like to see the same face day after day.
I do not like showering and bedmaking and never have, which is why I choose nights. I work outside of Sydney now, so don't have the choice that I had in Sydney unfortunately.
I find the work too demanding and hard and with and aging population it will only get heavier and heavier workload. I loathe showering in a small shower and then having to dress people - makes me feel claustrophobic and is exhausting. Women particularly I have always found, will do less for themselves and like to be waited on, and then want to gripe about something to the relatives, when they have not mentioned it before - and then the relatives think the nurses have not done their job or are neglectful of grandma's needs. This really really irritates me.
I worked as a prectice nurse in a dr's surgery for many years - did the bloods, dressings, immunisations, ecg's, assisted with minor procedures - did mean a significant cut in pay.
I also do agency nursing here - pays okay and pays weekly which is good for extra cash.I avoid the nursng homes. I did some work at a local nursing home and refused the offer of nights - one registered nurse for 102 patients - and 4 assistants after midnight - no thanks - too much responsibility - I rang the union on this place and was told it was up to the individual place to staff aat what they consider okay levels - so you can get alot of responsibility at some places.
You could work in radiology, pathology for example. my friend works as a community nurse - company car - he gets his patient list the day before and plans his day well and he is smart and can be finished in an hour if the day is good, and then goes home.
Which ever you choose, you will have to put up with obnoxious relatives or parents - another reason for working nights. Where I work has had a few beauties lately that have taken their frustration out on the staff - one patient and daughter are on the verge of being told to go elsewhere next time, due to their rudeness.
what is the pay like for nurses and teachers in the USA ?
People here in both professions are unhappy and want to leave - the teachers are always pursuing more money
