I have never found anyone in the chat room/s when I have visited these pages. Perhaps it is because I live in the UK and the time difference makes it difficult to chat with anyone who is elsewhere.
I think it would be fair to say that there are more active message boards around but I had hoped to be able to chat to people from other countries.

I've logged into the chat room more than a few times, and haven't had any luck in chatting with anyone either. When I joined this group, I'd hoped for a place to meet other nurses and finally experience a chat room with some clean chat! Maybe it would be good idea for any individuals interested to have a certain "chat time" on certain nights. For example, October 10 @ 3 pm for live chatters! We could post times and meet up! Anyone else think this is a good idea?

I'm a newbie to this site and I've gotten some helpful advice from the message board, but as for the chat room. I haven't had any luck catching anybody. All it is probably going to take is actually catching someone in the room to chat with. It is catching someone to be in there is the hard part. I'm open to any suggestions.

think its difficult to state an exact time as this is ina international site and 6pm to somebody could be 6am to somebody else.... but its worth a try

Only one time was I able to find someone in chat. With nursing shifts and fatigue from being overworked I can understand where the forums would be the best place to get and receive advice. I hope that this board gets busier because I love the way it is set up. I'm doing my bestto tell other nurses about it.

I agree that this board is set up well. Unfortunately there is not a lot of traffic, in the chat room , or on the message board. once in a while I come over here, but there isn't too much to respond to, especially compared to some of the other nursing message boards. I keep coming back because I hope I'll find that it perks up...but so far, not so much. I've even wanted to respond more to threads, except it seems a little silly to respond to a question that is almost three months old!

I also visit another site , RN Village by Nurseweek, but it isn't very active either. I don't know if there are others that are more active or not, but I particularly like the way these two are set up, as well. The RN Village was really busy, at one time, and had sort of a core crew of "regular" users and lots of drop-ins. I guess the down side to the board being really active is that eventually people can run out of nursing topics to talk about, then it turned to politics, religion, or people just talking about their personal lives- some people found that inappropriate but I still enjoyed it. Anyway, it's slow now too. I have looked at a couple of other sites from time to time, and some of them looked fairly active, but were difficult to figure out and use. At any rate, I still check in every couple of days, so if there's anyone here talking I'll chime in!

If folks leave the chatroom open (and in the background) while they surf other websites, the front page of the site will show that someone is in the chatroom after a few minutes, and increase the chances of someone else joining the room.
Once a "critical mass" develops, then the room would become busier.
