Hi I am new to the site. I was wondering if maybe if someone could help me out. I am interested in travel nursing, but there is so many companies to choose from. I was hoping to get some input on which companies were good to work with and which companies I should stay away from. Any advice would be great.

Hi Canovac,
Not a lot of traffic on this site!!! I have had contracts with a few travel companies. There is one I am particularly fond of- they did my first contract and were very helpful in loads of ways. They are great for the first time traveler. Feel free to PM me for that company name/recruiter... I don;t want to "outwardly advertising"
Most of the companies have their up and downsides, so it really depends on what you are looking for. For example, I have my resume with three companies. One each time i call my recruiter is always available, and ready to help me, if she is not there, another recruiter helps. Another company the recruiter is often not there and I can not talk to another recruiter as they might somehow take my account away from the original recruiter... and yet another is inbetween. The first company is my favorite- and they are a powerhouse in certain areas of the US. The others are useful for contracts outside of that area...So each one has an upside and a downside. The one where the recruiters are often unavailable has a lot of high paying contracts all over and can help with licensure in the state...etc etc. It's sort of a toss up on what you need and want.
Of course there are some companies to totally avoid, but i don't know any in particular.
Does that help?

Hi Canovac,
I am a travel nurse for the past 4.5 yrs.. It took me several companies before i found the right one for me.. My advice to you is just ask around and see who other people used for traveling and get their imput. I personally, find that the recruiter plays an important part of your travel, so look for one who you can rely on and know that she/he will take care of any issues on the spot. If you need any more information please feel free to email me. NAWLINSGIRL

I am considering travel for the first time, after many years in local agency. i would love to know some agencies are patient and fair with first time travelers. I've been reading some of the travel boards and the horror stories there; I don't want to get used, abused and then stuck somewhere without any support.
Any input from experienced travelers appreciated...PM me if you prefer!

Oh and by the way HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all here!

I'm thinking about taking a travel assignment in Dayton OH through advantage rn has anyone heard of them any good or bad news. I like their tax advantage program. More than half of my hourly rate will be tax free..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also when should over time start if you sign for 48hrs does it start after that or after 40.
