Im a senior in high school and I've chosen to be a nurse as a career but I'm so uncertain if I am capable of doing the job let alone the schooling. I like to help people and my best area besides physical education and music would be science - Anatomy and Physiology..I got an A in the class and I found it easy; mainly because of my amazingly organize teacher but also cuz it was easy to understand and interesting.

My teacher was a doctor and stated that when she began they're were at least 400 or so students studying to be a doctor, when it was graduation day only about 90 graduated. She said, "Yes, the schooling is hard but the job itself is harder." I understand that her position is different from that of a nurse because she is her own boss but she stated that anyone who wants go into the medical field must face a lot of consequences like being sued or being let go or ever allowed to practice ever again.

I'm just so unsure if im fit to be a nurse, it's scary. It's a big job with a large amount of devoution and responsibility that I don't want to end up failing. I have so many questions and doubts, so I'd appreciate it if anyone would be kind enough to answer them.

How long does it take to get a Masters Degree?

Which area of nursing would be recommended?

Is the schooling overwhelming?

Is it possible to go to school and have a social life (attend functions, be on a school team, have a relationship, travel) ?

What are the cons and pros of being a nurse?

What opportunities does nursing enable?

Is work overwhelming?

Is it possible to be a nurse and still have a family?

Is there anything that I should be informed of or know?

*Id also like to hear any nurses' experience of being a nurse!
