In recent years, several studies have found that women working at night for many years are indeed more prone to breast cancer, and that animals who have their light-dark schedules switched grow more cancerous tumors and die quicker.

Some research has also shown that men working at night may have a higher rate of prostate cancer.

Because these studies have been done mainly in nurses and airline crews, bigger studies in different populations are needed to confirm or disprove the findings.

The rest of the story is in http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22026660/

Well since I worked the night shift for many many years, and developed Inflammatory Breast Cancer, I can add to the statistics. Actually quite a few nurses that I worked with ended up with breast cancer. One had kidney cancer and a couple with leukemia.

I have worked night shift for over 13 yrs and in the unit i worked in i know of at least 7 ppl who has developed cancer.and one of them was 27 years old.. I guess thats why they pay more at night ..hmm i dont think its worth it...
