I am interviewing any type of nurse manager for a paper I am writing for a leadership course. I recently found this site and it seems to be a good place to talk to nurses, so I figured I would give it a try. If any one wants to answer the questions I would like to know what type of manager and maybe what state if its alright. Also all questions don't have to be answered. I'm looking forward to interacting with other nurses on this site.
Thanks, James
What qualities do you believe are important in a leader?
Do you try to incorporate your values in teaching nurses to enhance their
leadership abilities? What values would you choose?
What traits do you look for in a new hire that you perceive as a future
leader?
What makes a strong leader?
How long were you a nurse before you obtained this position?
What leadership characteristics do you possess and do you think that
these helped you get your job?
If you could have any other job in this hospital, what would it be and
why?
What did you do to prepare for this job?
What are some goals that you set for yourself as a standard of being a
leader?
Did you model yourself after other leaders? If so, who and why?
As a leader, what is the hardest thing you have had to do that conflicted
with your internal values and beliefs?
As a leader, what external resources do you find yourself drawing from
most heavily?
What characteristics do you feel a good leader should have and do you
recognize those characteristics in yourself?
In your opinion, what is the definition of a leader?
What do you recommend to become a future nursing leader?
If there was one thing you could do to become a better leader, what would
it be?
If you left this job or had to leave tomorrow, what one thing would people
remember or say about you as a leader?
What would your friends/co-workers consider your best traits and why?
How many years of experience would you consider appropriate to be a
good leader and why?
