Hey Aussie-Margaret
Old ER nurse here. Last 7 years Emergency Cardiac. We are a trauma level 2. Work most and ship mostly Neuro on up the road about 45 miles. Busy ER and busy cardiac unit. Started doing CPORT recently. Now the story as you and most everyone will remember. I fractured my foot in May and had to leave the ER for the time being. Foot still not well. Still in hard support cast. Not sitting at home though, I am doing school nursing for 2 schools. Now let me tell you the ER is tame compared to that on some days. Especially through this flu season. Loving it. Love ER also, but we do what we have to.

Wow...does your posting sound familiar, aussie!!! Our small 9-bed critical access hospital gets anything and everything coming through our doors!!! We can get in a "walking cardiac" and 10 minutes later a stab wound....all the while, taking care of 5 or 6 in-patients on the floor....all with only 2 nurses and a doctor to take care of it all!! Yes, we ship almost anything "critical" elsewhere....we also fly to Billings (200 miles away) and Idaho Falls (they have a chopper that can land in our "front yard")....however, if the weather is bad, we have to buckle down and do what we can for as long as we can!! In my opinion, NOTHING beats small-town-hospital nursing!!!
LOVE WINS!! ENNIS, MONTANA....JUNE 14, 2003!! NEVER FORGET!!!!
