Hi, I currently work in the Sacramento, Ca. area in a level III Nursery. I may be relocating to Austin, Tx for my husbands job. I'm trying to get as much information as possible about nursing in that area, specifically NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care). I have no idea what nursing wages/benefits/culture are like in that area and need info to make a decision about whether this move will improve our quality of life. PLEASE HELP!!! What are the best NICU's in the Austin area? Pro's/Con's of different hospitals. I realize all hospitals offer benefits (medical/dental,etc.) for full time employees but are any of the medical plans HMO's (Health Maintanance Organizations) like Kaiser is in California and some other states? Cost of Medical care and other benefits needs to be considered. Thanks so much. Please advise. Schmurl[size=1] p.s. How much are the night differentials?

Hi, I work in Austin, TX as a nurse recruiter. Have you ever considered the USAF? The Air Force's largest hospital is in San Antonio (Wilford Hall) right down the road from Austin. We currently have a $25,000 sign-on bonus. You receive service credit for the time you've already spent as an RN and come in with as much as Captain's bars. The Air Force also pays for continuing education. We currently have positions available in 15 different nursing specialties including NICU. If you're interested I can be reached at (512)589-0680 or by email at michael.stine@rs.af.mil.
