mad.gif I worked so hard to maintain a 3.9 in an MN program and a teacher decided to fail me on a whim that I would be an unsafe nurse, although I tried my best and did not make any obvious safety errors. Now I owe 38,000 and don't know the best place to go in order to transfer what I did do.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I think this happens alot. I never ever thought this could possibly happen to anyone. It should never ever happen to anyone. You have to prove yourself over and over and over again and again and again. You get passing to excellent grades, you spend sleepless nights studying, money owed and time consumed in an attempt to follow your heart and your dream to become a professional. Capable of supporting yourself and your family, and then they dump you.
I use to look up to nurses. Now I have a completely different opinion of them. I think most of them are anal, especially the instructors. I'm so turned off by their egocentric attitudes, that I don't care to be a part of their team anymore. Nursing is unpopular, and this is why. Have you noticed how they are constantly advertising the "Nursing" profession as a career? Schools are getting a bad reputation for dumping students, especially female students. They want to graduate the male students, because they know that men still command more money than women. The more men in the field, the more female nurses will reap the benefits as well.
Unfortunately you will never find a nursing program that can guarantee you a diploma for passing grades and work well done or your money back. Nursing school is a gamble. I think there are far better medical professions out there and schooling that will not discriminate or keep you from graduating because of a nasty uptight anal instructor. I think there is a nursing shortage because of the unethical practice of nursing schools and it's a shitty job.
It'll be okay. Just find the strength to move on and know it will be the right direction this time around.

Thank you for the response it lets me know that there are real people out there. I have been offered to retake 8 mo free of tuition and hope that the same thing does not occur. smile.gif All I can do is know that someday I will be a teacher with a zero tolerance for acts of discrimination in any way and will help students to pass.

Im curious of what you did that warranted a fail. I have had several class mates fail and feel frustrated for them but then my teachers took the time to tell us how they decide if a student fails. At my school the teacers of that student meet together to discuss the student if failing is an issue. It's not just one teacher that makes the decision. Of course people will only see it from there side, its human nature. Maybe your other teachers felt the fail was warranted.....just playing deils advocate here.

it seems to me that the nursing school is thinking the more students they fail, the better standard they are. I am a nursing student and I don't respect my nursing school at all. These people in nursing school do not have clear minds.
