I cannot bear carpet
I cannot bear shoes on carpet, or outside worn shoes in the house
carpet: dirty revolting filthy - I go crazy if hubby walks in wearing his shoes he has been walking around in at the dementia unit and then walks in on carpet where my kids sit and play.
I am currently getting quotes on a timber floor.
greasy hair or hair needing a cut
people who wash dishes by hand and continue even when the water is filthy - and do not rinse dishes either.
(in-laws, I am talking about you)
and then the in-laws have the hide to tell me my dishwasher would never do dishes as clean as they can wash them, and they don't believe in dishwashers. Eeeewwww !!
I would never wash dishes by hand - yuk.
clothes worn for more than one day - please - clean clothes every day
hubby who still wears the same clothes from 10 years ago or more, and refuses to buy anything new. He doesn't seem to hear when I tell him the 'slob' look is not in.
hubby - who will go to bed before I go on the night shift in emergency, because he is "tired". He could at least see me to the car and off to work.
sorry - I have several frustrated peeve hates

something about me -
when nobody's watching i wear my underwear on my head...ha ha ha j/k
i wish i could start my life over again and still be a nurse and not be married or have kids (although i love them with all my heart) just to see what its like to have a social life.
btw...i love that comment about the dishes. i cant stand that either as a matter of fact the dishes that i do do by hand i wash in a continual stream of running scalding hot water, which i always get crap for because its a waste of water and my mom comes from the generation of do all the dishes in the same water, from the least dirty to the most. but i totally aggree eeeewwwwww!!

i hate it when people chew with their mouth open. the whole lip-smacking-sucking-your-food thing makes me gag!!! don't people hear themselves? don't parents hear their kids, shouldn't they teach the kids it is just gross?
i love when the day shift comes on (i work 12 hour nights). i love it for 2 reasons:
1. because it means i can go home, but mostly because
2. i love the morning fresh, just showered smell!

I have BEEN the day shift.... trust me, that smell doesn't last long!!!
....let's see, something else..... I eat one thing on my plate at a time. I finish one item before I start on another. Usually save the meat or whatever the main course is, for last.
Also can't stand loud eaters!!! I worked with a doc once, God bless him, who when he ate fried chicken, ate BONES and all. I thought I would die!!! (He wasn't a loud eater, per se, but how quiet can you be when chewing up BONES!)

Hi Everybody, I am new to this forum. I am a nurse / manager in the UK and have just had my first book published about some of the funnier things that have happened throughout my career in the NHS. Lucy

Is your book available in the U.S? I started a book but never got past the third chapter. Still hope to get back to it. It's a non-fiction book about our life with our oldest child; who is adopted, and mentally ill. It's been tragic, a lot of it. I got the idea because I don't find much when I search the bookshelves looking for similar stories that I can relate to, but I know we're not the only family in this situation, so I thought maybe somebody else would find comfort in reading it. But it ain't written yet!!!

Hi there, you should persevere with your book, it sounds as though it would be worth while. It does take time however, I have been trying for 4 years to get mine published, but it is worth it. It was only released a week ago, so the ISBN has not filtered down through places like amazon etc. But it can be found via the published direct, or I have a few copies on Ebay at the moment to see if that works. I do know that hospital shops here in the UK have expressed an interest in stocking it, so we will have to wait and see. Continue with your book, it is important for families to realise that they are not the only ones in particular circumstances and also important for professionals to try to understand what it is like in a patient / parents position.
