Casto-Moure wanted to operate immediately. When a wrapped tray of sterile surgical instruments arrived from another hospital, the charge nurse refused to admit the patient into the operating room until the instruments were re-sterilized. The doctor lost his temper again and began intimidating the charge nurse by punching his fist into his hand while walking toward her, according to the witness.

When deputies arrived at the operating room Castro-Moure came around the corner. "Do you know that I am a (expletive) doctor, and I'm going to do what I want," he said, according to the witness.

Good Lord...but then again, why am I surprised..similar things happen in so many other parts of the country as well. Hope she takes him to the cleaners in civil court as well. Now..how will the hospital respond? Fire the nurse?? (I hope not but I know how these things work some places..they will pick her behavior apart to find SOMETHING she did wrong)

a colleague I used to work with said she worked at a place where the short tempered Dr - if doing a procedure - would throw the scalpel at the nurse - if something displeased him

when it happened to her - she picked up her bag and walked out

i'm a theatre nurse myself and i can really see this happening. I know of some really nasty surgeons, and they always try to get their own ways no matter how many times you try to tell them that we have to stick to policy, cos if something went wrong you can bet your ass it would the nurse in charge of the theatre who would get the boot!!

k[/color][color=#CC33CC]i was unable to access the newspaper article about the event.i have been a nurse for 22yr. the last 3 in a major city OR. i can believe this kind of behavior of aggression/intimidation towards female nurses. wonder if would have done this toa male RN that weighe more than 125lbs.?

Being a male nurse I can say that most Dr's treat me differently at first, giving respect before it is completely earned, where they make females earn it. In most cases though, after this initial inequity, the landscape evens out and respect is maintained by performance. Then again, some Gods.......OOOPS, Dr's, are just going to be arrogant egomaniacal primadonnas
