Hello !
Are you "up to date" with the new guidelines for CPR ???
Since january there are new guidelines out.
Now the compression/ventilation ratio is not longer 15:2, it is 30:2 now.
You are no longer used to give the patient 2 initial "rescue breaths", just start with cardio-compression, if you find someone unresponding without an normal breathing.
Are you up to date ?
Greetings
Dirk

You know all that makes sense. If you are working a code in hospital you don't stand there and count breaths and compressions. You continue with both until a doc says hold to check for pulse or rhythm or to push more meds. When I have to refresh my CPR card I have difficult time remembering there are actually numbers out there to go by. You move so fast in the real thing you have no time to think did I do 30 compressions and did they do 2 breaths. You are also so busy making sure the right meds are pushed, etc and equipment ready and working. Then you go in and have to take CPR training and they have changed all the rules on you and then you feel like a dummy. If we have hard time keeping up with it, don't you know the average person has a really good time.
Just more to think about.

Just finished my ACLS last week and they STILL teach the "start with 2 rescue breaths" method and then move right into the 30:2 ratio of compressions to breaths.....do 5 cycles before checking again for a pulse!! This had our providers pretty stumped as they have held onto the old cpr for 20+ years!! Gonna take some time to get used to this!
LOVE WINS!! ENNIS, MONTANA....JUNE 14, 2003!! NEVER FORGET!!!!
