The victims were among the most vulnerable. Their plight brought one hospital official to tears and drew flashes of anger from another yesterday as they described a horrifying case of child molestation and pornography at Children's Convalescent Hospital.
A 54-year-old respiratory therapist has been arrested on 40 counts of possession, manufacture and distribution of child pornography and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts on two children under 14. In all, the charges involve nine children.

A cell phone allegedly was used to take photographs of bedridden children at the 59-bed convalescent center, which is part of the Children's Hospital complex in Kearny Mesa. Some of those images were distributed on the Internet.

What is sadder is the public will judge the entire profession by the act of one sicko.....so many good people in healthcare, and the actions of one (like this and Cullen) will be the topic of conversation, and add to the public's mistrust of healtrhcare workers. sad.gif

There are sickos everywhere and sadly they can slip through the cracks if they are cunning enough (and many are) But...people must realize there is a small percentage of deviants in every group. The media forgets to mention this fact in their sensationalizing. sad.gif

I agree with you whole heartedly Mattsmom, That is why I feel we should do something to deter them from entering professions were trust is required. I think there should be a further charge of 'betrayal of public trust' to be added on top of what ever other charge is given to them. Hopefully a long prison sentence. I hope then they will get the message that health professionals, teachers, ministers and others in public trust do not want these sickos among them.

I agree extra charges should be added...they have violated public trust and tarnished the profession. Perhaps we should all write letters to our congressmen, or start the process of getting a law passed with signatures at the grass roots level. (petitions) We could all do this in our own areas/states. I have a feeling this would pass here in WA state.
